Italian Stocks Exchange

The Milan based exchange came into being after the unification of at least 10 stocks exchanges in Italy in 1991. All the securities listed at the exchange are traded electronically. The top indexes used at the exchange are the MIB and the MIBTEL used on the basis of the price of listed shares. The other index used is the MIB 30 on the basis of the top 30 most liquid shares and market capitalization. The exchange has a market capitalization of $653 billion and is currently ranked 21 globally. Some of the key responsibilities of the exchange include: managing and organizing Italy`s capital markets, regulating the procedures for admission and listing of companies and supervision of the disclosures by the listed companies. The Italian Stocks Exchange has a market capitalization of $653 billion and ranks 22 worldwide in terms of market capitalization.
